Around 11 o'clock in the morning of February 17, 2008, Cumberland Fire Control dispatched a first alarm assignment to the area of Broad St. and Titus. St. in the Valley Falls section of town, for multiple calls reporting a structure fire. A working fire was transmitted upon arrival and units encountered a wood-framed Victorian style residential dwelling at 91 Broad St. Companies went to work stretching attack lines and establishing a feeder.

Upon arrival of Truck Co. 5, they were sent to to rook to open up the structure. Valley Falls Fire Chief Brian Jackvony established command and requested an additional engine and ladder from the Town of Lincoln to assist the Cumberland units. Lincoln Engine 4, Ladder 51, and Rescue 4 responded to the scene.

An aggressive interior attack produced a great stop by the on scene companies. The fire appeared to have been confined to the section of the original fire area but there was heavy smoke damage throughout the building. Lincoln Engine 4 acted as the FAST company for the incident. The fire was brought quickly under control within 30 minutes without injury. The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Rhode Island Fire Marshal's Office.
