At 2:32 pm on Monday the first of October, a first alarm assignment was called to 1393 Mendon Road for a reported structure fire. E-22 was the first due engine and reported a fire on the second floor of a two and a half story wood-framed building. There was also a report of an occupant still on the 2nd floor. E-22 stretched an attack line and entered through the front of the building. The occupant was removed from the apartment by arriving companies. Incident command had E-41 report to the rear of the building with their truck and stretch in another attack line due to the location of the fire and the layout of the building, the easiest access was in the rear. T-1 went to the roof and performed vertical ventilation. The fire was contained to the bedroom and was quickly extinguished with smoke and water damage to other areas of the structure.. Lincoln companies assisted Cumberland with an engine to work and a ladder company standing by as the RIT team. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
