After 2pm on Saturday January 12, 2007 the North Providence Fire Department responded to 885 Charles St. for a structure fire. E-4 under the command of Acting Lt. Scott Corio reported heavy fire showing from side 4, 2nd floor of a two story occupied multi-dwelling.
Units on scene immediately requested additional companies. An engine, ladder, and battalion chief was also requested from the City of Providence. Units stretched in attack lines and encountered heavy fire on the second floor.
The fire appeared to be contained to the second floor with smoke and water damage throughout the structure. Three firefighters received minor injuries at the fire. The state fire marshal's office was called in to investigate.
