Around 8 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday March 11, 2008 the Lincoln and North Providence fire alarms started to receive calls for a structure fire in the area of Manchester Farm Rd. Both towns sent a full first alarm assignment due to the proximity of the town lines with Lincoln arriving first. The actual address of the fire is 4 Manchester Farm Road which is located in the town of Lincoln.
Companies encountered heavy fire on arrival and an interior attack commenced on the three-story occupied wood-framed house. There was heavy fire on the upper floors and the fire began extending towards the roof. Lincoln was immediately backed up by North Providence, which had also sent a first alarm assignment, and additional Lincoln units. Providence’s Engine 12 and Ladder 3 responded to the scene as well as Pawtucket Engine 5.
The fire was knocked down and brought under control within an hour. The fire is under investigation by the Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s office. There was one occupant from the house that I believe was assisted out by the first due companies but unsure of the condition of the victim.
