On this Halloween afternoon, the Warwick Fire Department dispatched units to a house on Elmer Ave. for reported smoke in the building. E-1 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the eaves of a 2.5 story wood-frame occupied single family dwelling. E-1 reported that the homeowner was attempting to remove paint with an acetylene torch and the house was full of smoke.
Units on scene encountered a fire in a partition on the second floor with possible extension into the attic. The fire was quickly extinguished by the first alarm companies. Overhaul was needed both inside and also of an exterior wall. The fire was placed under control and units began clearing within 45 minutes.
