Hello and welcome to Brett Anderson's Fireground Photography. Here you will find photo images of various emergency or training incidents from around the Southern New England area capturing the public safety sector at work. I have been a firefighter for 8 years, the past 6 as a career firefighter. I'm interested mainly in fire service photography but also enjoy photographing a variety of subjects, of which you can view on this site. I'm a member of the Providence Citywide Fire Network(Car 40) and also the International Organization of Fire Photography. I'm also a correspondent for the 1st Responder Newspaper and a contributing photographer for WorkingFirefighters.com. 3rd Alarm - Blackstone, MA 6/13/2008 : On June 13, 2008 the Blackstone (MA) Fire Department responded to the Valley St. area for a reported fire around 4:45pm. Woonsocket (RI) Fire Department also dispatched a full first alarm assignment; the location of the building is close to the city’s border. On arrival companies reported a well involved commercial building. The building was a one and a half story “L” shaped building 50’ x 200’ with an attached 50’ x 50’ section. A third alarm was called and companies engaged the fire with heavy appliances and master stream devices. Several ladder pipes were set up until the fire appeared to be darkening down. At that point, an interior attacked commenced to finish putting out the flames. Extensive overhaul was needed and relief companies had to be called in due to the heat and humidity. In addition to Woonsocket mutual aid was called in from Bellingham (MA), Mendon (MA), Millville (MA). Cumberland (RI) and North Smithfield (RI) companies were called in eventually for overhaul. Reportedly the smoke could be seen for miles. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

3rd Alarm - Woonsocket, RI 12/11/07 : Around 5pm on Tuesday December 11, 2007 the Woonsocket Fire Department received multiple calls for a reported structure fire at 112 Earle St. E-3 the first arriving company reported heavy smoke showing. A code red was transmitted shortly and an aggressive interior attack began. The building was a three story occupied multi-family wood frame. There was fire on the number two and three floors and the interior attack began on the number two floor. Companies soon reported heavy fire conditions on the second and third floor and command requested two additional engine companies to the scene. E-3 had reported knocking down the main body of fire on the second floor but due to the heavy fire conditions on the upper floor and the fact that the fire was rapidly extending; all companies were ordered out of the building. Woonsocket units took a defensive position protecting many of the immediate exposure buildings in this congested neighborhood. The fire was now through the roof as the companies prepared to attack utilizing ladder pipes and deck guns. The companies remained on scene for hours utilizing master streams to bring the fire under control. Mutual aid was called in from Cumberland, Blackstone, North Smithfield, and Lincoln during the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
